Heavy Machinery for Steel Fabrication

Metalworking equipment is built to last for decades, making the secondary market a prime source for quality machinery. West Auctions connects buyers with the heavy iron needed to cut, bend, and shape steel. From small job shops to large structural steel plants, we handle liquidations that release valuable assets back into the industry.

We understand the difference between a mechanical shear and a hydraulic one, or the value of a CNC backgauge on a press brake. Our listings provide the technical details you need, including throat depth, tonnage, and bed length. Whether you are looking for a versatile ironworker for punching holes or a precision band saw for cutting stock, our auctions offer a reliable way to expand your capabilities.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the press brake come with dies?
If tooling is currently in the machine or photographed on a pallet with it, it is included. Often, large collections of press brake dies are sold as separate lots.
What is the capacity of the shear?
We list the rated capacity (e.g., 10-foot x 1/4-inch mild steel) based on the manufacturer's data plate. Always verify these specs to ensure they meet your material requirements.
Can I test the backgauge?
If the machine is under power, you can test the backgauge movement during inspection. We recommend verifying the digital readout accuracy if possible.
How do I move a heavy ironworker?
Ironworkers are top-heavy and require careful rigging. We recommend hiring a professional rigger. Some smaller units may be moveable with a heavy-duty forklift.
Is the machine 3-phase?
Most heavy metalworking equipment requires 3-phase power. We list voltage and phase from the motor plate. You may need a rotary phase converter if you only have single-phase power.
Are the shear blades sharp?
Used shears typically have some wear on the blades. You should budget for rotating or sharpening the blades upon installation.
